The funeral of Emil Von Eschen, held yesterday at Wetonka, was very largely attended and in the profusion of flowers and numbers of persons who were present an indication was to be seen of the esteem with which this man had been held by his neighbors and friends. The Odd Fellows had charge of the services at the cemetery and it was said that every member of the lodge with but two exceptions was present in respect to the departed.

Our community was again greatly shocked when it was learned here of the death of out townsman, E. L. Von Eschon who passed away on April 10, at the home of his brother, John in Aberdeen, where he was taken the week before for medical treatment. The deceased suffered a stroke of paralysis about a year and a half ago and has since been in a very serious condition, and at times suffered very much, although his family had been appraised for the fact, that he could not last long they did not realize the end was so near and were completely overwhelmed at his death. All that loving hearts, willing hands and medical aid could do was done but to no avail.

Emil Von Eschon was born in Bloomer, Wis., on November 24, 1870 and came to South Dakota with his parents in 1883. They settled in Brown county near the county line, where he lived until his marriage twenty four years ago to Miss Anna Walker, they living not far from this townsite until the town of Wetonka was started. He then moved here with his family where he lived until his death. He was a machine dealer, elevator manager and was a partner of the Wetonka Mercantile store at one time. At the time of his death he had just resigned from county commissioner and was clerk of the school board of this township. All these duties he discharged with great ability. He was a good, honest and generous man, a kind loving father and husband, and a friend to all that know him.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and six children who are, Mabel, Clara Alldritt, Clarence, Florence, Leonard and Albert and two brothers and one sister, one grand child and several other relaatives. The funeral services were held here at the Presbyterian church on Wednesday, April 12, Rev. Grant Tooker preaching a very impressive sermon, after which the remains were taken to the cemetery where the Wetonka lodge of Odd Fellows held their last services over the body of their departed brother, he being a member of this order since its organization here. The floral offering was very beautiful and was presented by many friends and organizations
