Mrs. Sanchez died Sunday, Dec. 12, in Grass Valley. She was 90.
She was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Porterville, to Ralph Ray and Carrie Creeks Russell. Her mother died when she was six months old, and her father raised her. She moved as a teenager from Porterville to Sierra Madre where she attended school. At the age of 16, she married Clarence Norman Morrison. They lived in Sierra Madre and then moved to Paradise, where she lived and worked as a nurse for more than 20 years. In 1997, she moved to Grass Valley to be closer to her family. She enjoyed her family, gardening and needlework. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grass Valley.
She is survived by her son, Norman Morrison of Sierra Madre; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Jackie Morrison of Alta Sierra; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Lance Amaral of Nevada City; grandchildren Russell and James Morrison, Stephanie Clark, Wm. Spencer, Brad Amaral, Amy Johnson, and Dennis Morrison; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.
