Jesse's death year was never carved on his tombstone. Jesse's wife Mary's dates (1833 - 1907) are on the shared tombstone. This tends to indicate that she predeceased him.

He affiliates with the Democratic party, and has acted as Postmaster at his present residence, to which post he received his appointment Sept. 18, 1880, and officiated therein one year.
