DEATH ENDS LINGERING ILLNESS OF GOOD WOMAN

Death came on Wednesday morning as a relief from intense suffering to Mrs. Lizzina Warren Bentley, 65, wife of Charles Bentley, at the County Hospital. A cancerous condition of the lungs is ascribed as the cause of her suffering and death.

About a year ago Mrs. Bentley was operated on with the fear that cancer might be discovered, but at the time, as we recall it, her condition was diagnosed as something else and it was felt by her people that recovery would follow the operation. She improved somewhat for a time but never regained her strength and recently her condition became bad again. She suffered much and was taken to the hospital but no relief could be given her and she passed away about 7 a.m. on the 25th.

Funeral services were held for her from the East Ward chapel today at 2 p.m. with Bishop Mitchell in charge. The speakers were Walter C. Mitchell, David Matheson and Simon A. Matheson. Music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Lola Dalton, Florence Joseph, Rex Ward and Ray Garner. L.J. Adams sang a solo. The opening and closing prayers were offered by John Stevens and L.N. Marsden, respectively, and the grave was dedicated by Wm. J. Gurr.

Lizzina Warren was born in Torbo, North Carolina, Nov. 4, 1865. She and her mother were converted to the LDS faith by Edward Dalton and came to Utah in 1881, leaving two brothers in Virginia. She was married to Edward M. Dalton, father of the missionary who converted her in 1882, in one of the LDS temples.

To this union was born seven children; Randall, James, Martha, Ida, Francis, Harrell and Harley, the latter being twins. Three of them, James, Martha and Ida died of measles in Colorado, two at the same time. Randall has since passed away.

Her husband died in 1895 and in 1897 she was again married to her present husband, Charles Bentley. Four children have been born to them, John, Pearl, Charles F. and marguerite. the first two died as children. She is survived by her husband, four sons, Francis, Harrell and Harley Dalton, Charles F. Bentley, and one daughter, Marguerite Bentley.

She was ever and industrious woman, a devoted wife and mother and a friend to many.

With the community the Times joins in an expression of sympathy to the bereaved ones who are called to mourne her passing.
