HAMPTON - Scott Edward Pomeroy, 58, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, while in Florida to visit his mother. Born in Denver, Colo., he had lived in Hampton 10 years where he was Liaison Officer at Fort Monroe. While serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, he earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the RVN Cross of Gallantry. Survivors include three children, M. Scott Pomeroy, James A. Pomeroy and Christie L. Pomeroy, all of Northern Virginia; his mother, Alice R. Abel of Florida; two brothers, James Pomeroy and his wife, Ellen, and Michael Pomeroy, all of Florida; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Hunter, James and Austin. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Centurion, Fort Monroe, with Chaplain LTC Youn H. Kim officiating. Burial with full military honors will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Quantico National Cemetery. Memorials may be the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058. Arrangements by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
