James Henry ("Hilly") Boyd entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 surrounded by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte, his children, and other family. Hilly graduated from Clayton High School, served in the U.S. Army, spending most of his military duty at West Point Military Academy. He was retired from the trucking industry. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dothan, AL and attended Lighthouse Sunday School Class. Surviving Hilly are his wife Charlotte Greene Boyd, children Cathy Byrd (Bill) of Panama City, FL, Jim Boyd (Carol) of Albany, GA, Dan Boyd (Marcia) of Plains, GA, Carol Andrews (Boyd) of Montgomery, AL., eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Frances Boyd of Clayton, AL, Evelyn Boyd of Dawson, GA, Betty Bryant of Acworth, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Nicky Boyd and Elma Boyd Hartzog, infant daughter Janet Lynn Boyd, brothers Dempsey and Cecil Boyd. Family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church parlor in Dothan from 5-7 pm on Friday, August 9, 2013 and also at Clayton United Methodist Church at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2013, followed by the funeral service at Clayton United Methodist Church at 11:00 am. Pallbearers will be grandsons Billy Byrd, Ryan, Tommy, and Jason Boyd, Eric Andrews, and grandsons-in -law Tim Donlon and Robert Brooks.
