Sam Ellis, 68, of Victoria, died Tuesday, March 7, 1995.
He was born April 10, 1926, in Staples to the late Grover C. and Gertrude Bost Nesbitt. He was a retired lab group supervisor at DuPont. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and 1953 graduate of Southwest State Teachers College with a B. S. in Chemistry, He was president of San Antonio Kennel Club, president of Pug Dog Club of San Antonio, founder of Kennel Club of Greater Victoria, and member of Victoria County Genealogical Society.
Survivors: wife, Marilynn Akins Ellis; sons, Alan A. Ellis of Victoria and Glenn W. Ellis of Sugar Land; sister, Gladys Ruth Allen of Staples; and two grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents and sister, Annie Lee Allison.
Visitation was 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Colonial Funeral home.
Burial: 2 p.m. today, Staples Cemetery. Staples, Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria, 578-3535.
Pallbearers: Herb Hyatt; Marcos Allen, Robert C. Wilson, Gay Bay, Mike Jackson and Ludy Janak.
Honorary pallbearers: DuPont lab Employees and Robert E. Mattes.
