Ashland - O.A. Bowling (Ben) Bowling, 77, resident of Ashland since 1920, died Monday at Mineola Hospital where he had been a patient since Wednesday. Born April 9,1886, at Tallahassee, Fla., he spent his early years in Georgia. He married Iva Sawyer Nov. 23,1921 at Ashland. He was a farmer - stockman and known over Southwest Kansas as a horse buyer and trader. He and his wife ran a Laundromat in Ashland.
Member: Baptist Church.
Survivors: The widow: three sons, Melvin, Wichita: Charles Ocie, Minneola: Gordon, Ashland: six daughters, Mrs. Betty O'Blenness and Mrs. Karen Maris, Ashland: Mrs. Margie Rainbolt, Burlington, Colo.; Mrs. Darlene Younker, Minneola; Mrs. Elaine Alexander, Parsons; Mrs. Ann Harrod, Wichita; 19 grandchildren.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Ashland Methodist Church; Rev. Frank Little and Rev. Dale K. Compton. Burial: Highland Cemetery. Call: 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, 8-11 a.m. Wednesday, Brown Mortuary, Ashland.
