OBITUARY-
David Lee Martin, age 58 of Apex, North Carolina, formerly of the Austin and Lyle area, died Sunday, February 13, 2005 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

He was born Dec. 8, 1946 to Lee and G. Larrie (Stark) Martin in Austin, Minn. A Lyle native, he graduated from Lyle High School in 1964. Though he made his home in North Carolina for the last 20 years, he maintained close ties to his hometown. He married Barbara H. Hout on March 15, 1985 in Apex, North Carolina. David worked as a technical writer at IBM for 30 years. A Vietnam veteran and Army reservist, he belonged to Lyle American Legion Post 105. He was a loving and beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Survivors include wife, Barbara H. Martin of Apex, N.C.; daughter, Jennifer Martin of Madrid, Spain; step-daughters, Kimberly (Richard) Chisum of Greenville, S.C.; Meredith (Ted) Williams of Angier, N.C.; mother, G. Larrie (Jerry) Monmery of Austin, Minn.; father, Lee (Colleen) Martin of Austin, Minn.; two sisters, Linda (Bill) Bottema of Isanti, Minn.; Marci (Steve) Burton of Austin, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Phillip Martin and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, rural Lyle, with Rev. Russell Wangen officiating. Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, Minn. from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Six Mile Grove Cemetery, rural Lyle with military rites by Lyle American Legion Post 105.

Memorials may be given to Cancer Fund, at Lyle American Legion Post 105, 112 Grove St., Lyle MN 55953. The family requests that those who are able, consider donating blood to their local blood banks in honor of David and in thanks to the many strangers whose donations of blood gave him a longer life.
