William Edward Boyles, age 92, was a son the late George Dewey and Pearl Houser Boyles. He served as a staff sergeant and squad leader in the United States Army, 36th Infantry Division, Company G 142nd, during World War II where he was awarded the Bronze Arrowhead, three bronze battle stars, a Purple Heart with oak leaf clusters, and a good conduct medal. Mr. Boyles retired from Carolina Freight Carriers after 33 years. He was a Mason, a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer, president of the West Lincoln High School sports boosters, and a member of the American Legion and VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed family, gardening, and his pets.
Interment in Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
