Glen Adkins, 72, Waubun, MN, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Glen Dean Adkins was born on August 26, 1940, at home near Borup, MN, the son of James and Freida (Schroeder) Adkins. He attended school in Ada where he graduated with the class of 1958. In high school he worked for Olson's Mens Wear in Ada. He served in the United States Army in Germany before his honorable discharge. Glen then attended college at North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton before transferring to Bemidji (MN) State University where he earned his degree. He attained his master's degree from Highlands State University in Las Vegas, NM.

Glen was united in marriage to Janice Burdick on December 29, 1967 at Nee Gon Nee Lutheran Church at Roy Lake, MN. They moved to Grace City, ND, where he taught high school history and business. He later moved and taught in Winnipegosis and Ethelbert, Manitoba, where they lived for many years. In 1995, he retired and moved back to Minnesota. He did some substitute teaching and security guard work part time. He has lived at Elbow Lake for the past few years. Glen enjoyed fishing and hunting and traveled off and on. He would build and repair kerosene lamps and clocks, and enjoyed gun repair and wood working.

Glen is survived by a son, Jason (Toni) Adkins, Savannah, GA, a daughter, Karissa Adkins (Shawn Singer), East Lyme, CT, one granddaughter, Briehl Singer, one sister, Linda (Jim) Stene, Ada, MN, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jared, and brothers, Allen and Myron.

Funeral Service: 2:00pm Monday, August 12, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada.

Visitation: 5-7pm Sunday at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN, and one hour before the services on Monday.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
