Joseph G. Nash, 62 of Mt. Holly, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born April 8, 1951, to C.W. and Nell Webb Nash in El Dorado, AR.
He was a member of the Mt. Holly Community Church. Joe was Outstanding Firefighter of the Year in 1984, and retired after 20 years as Captain from the El Dorado Fire Department. He retired in 2006 from the Union County Sheriff's Office where he worked for 10 years as a K-9 Officer. Joe received Commendation for Valor from the Union County Sheriff's Office. He was a member of the Mt. Holly Volunteer Fire Department and retired from the Mt. Holly Water System as operator after 13 years. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and his K-9 partners, Eager & Crump.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Darlene McAdoo Nash of Mt. Holly; two daughters, Lyn Bates (Joe) of Mt. Holly, Kelley Rogers (James) of Parkers Chapel; four brothers, Charles D. Nash (Joyce Faye) of Stephens, Dickie Nash (Janie) of San Antonio, TX, Dr. Danny Nash (Betsy) of Sequin, TX, Dr. Dewayne Nash (Jo Ann) of Bertram, TX; three sisters, Jacque Ford (Dan) of Washington, AR, Camile Lenderman (Don) of Dover, AR, Joyce Cathey (Lynwood) of Smackover; three grandchildren, Lacy Bates, Lindy Bates and Trey Rogers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00p.m.Friday, August 9, 2013, at Young's.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Young's Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Holly Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
