Jerry Andrew McLaughlin, 76, of Mount Sidney died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at his home.

Jerry was a mechanic and was head of fleet maintenance for Smiths Transfer for many years. He was owner and operator of Verona Texaco Service Station.

He was born Oct. 11, 1933, at Pocohontas County, W.Va., the son of the late June and Cecil McLaughlin.

In addition to his parents, a brother, Jimmy McLaughlin, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Levia (Alderman) McLaughlin, two daughters, Debbie Crummett and husband, Glenn, of Mount Sidney and Cathy Strickler and husband, Walter, of Waynesboro; three sisters, Bonnie Sharp and Susie Landis, both of Marlinton, W.Va., and Shirley Broce of Palm City, Fla.; four brothers, Wallace McLaughlin and J.D. McLaughlin, both of Marlinton, W.Va., Sherman McLaughlin of Stuart, Fla., and Keith McLaughlin of Florida; four grandchildren, Samuel Acord USMC, Joseph Acord, Kristan Dollar and Andrew Crummett; one step-grandson, Kurtis Strickler; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangments are being handled by VanReenen Funeral Home, Marlinton, W.Va., where the family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010. The funeral service will be at VanReenen Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, Sam Felton officiating. Interment will be at Brown's Mountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augusta Health Hospice.
