He was married to Vesta Heath Doble on 23 Apr 1859 at Abington, Plymouth County, Massachusetts by J. E. Keith, Justice of the Peace. They had a son:

He enlisted 21 Sep 1861 for service during the Civil War. He was a Corporal, Company F, 9th Regiment, Maine Volunteer Infantry.

George is buried in Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Virginia.
