John C. Russell, 70, of Middletown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at his residence.

He was born in Wolfe County, Ky., on Dec. 15, 1929, the son of John and Anna Russell. He lived in the Middletown area for 45 years and served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Russell was employed as a machine operator at Inland Container Corp. and had worked there for 25 years before retiring in 1980. He was a 45-year faithful member of the Towne Boulevard Church of God where he served as a Sunday school teacher, board member, usher and bus driver. John was an avid hunter. He had hunted in most of the western states as well as Ohio and Kentucky and had made the trip of his lifetime to New Zealand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Bob Russell. Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Clarice Russell of Middletown; a son, Ed Russell (Ellen) of Middletown; a daughter, Lisa Korson (Shannon) of West Chester, Ohio; five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Joseph and Matthew Russell and Allison and Evan Korson; brothers Lee Russell and Elbert Russell, both of Salt Lick, Ky., Lawrence Russell of Mount Sterling, Ky., Byrl Russell of Carter County, Ky., and E. M. Russell of Miamisburg, Ohio; sisters Agnes Connelly of Paris, Ky., and Irene Pelfrey of Campton, Ky.; and very special friends, Fred and Barb Alcorn and Billy Fryman, all of Franklin, Ohio.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at the Towne Boulevard Church of God, with the Revs. Frank Curtis and Mark Jackson officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Joseph Baker-Stevens Funeral Home; and Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Towne Boulevard Church of God.
