Visitation for family and friends of Betty Lucille Edwards of Grass Valley will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the same chapel.
Mrs. Edwards died Saturday, Jan. 18, in Folsom. She was 79.
She was born on April 3, 1923, in Suttons Bay, Mich., to Peter and Gretchen (Dorman) Stowe. She graduated from high school and attended one year of college. She married Charles H. Edwards, Jr on Sept. 1, 1942, in Jackson, Miss. She worked as an accountant for the U.S. Government. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting, gambling and fishing.
She is survived by her sister, Lucinda Jassel of Galloway, N.J.; brother, Richard Stowe of Jackson, Miss.; son, Charles H. Edwards III of Henderson, Nev.; daughters Mary Jo Brown of Antelope and Paula N. Ballard of Grass Valley; three grandsons; four granddaughters; five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Edwards, Jr, on Jan. 16, 2000; and sister, Georgann Anderson, in 1973.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
