Dies Tuesday
Mrs. Mary Leah Andrus, 87, of 576 Chestnut St., died at a local hospital Tuesday after a short illness.
She was born at Duluth, Minn., March 17, 1870, and was married there in 1886 to Charles Walter Andrus.
The family moved to Roseburg in 1907. She made her home here continuously since. She was preceded in death by her husband, who was lost on a hunting trip in the coast Range in 1943. His body was never found.
The couple celebrated its 50th wedding anniversary in 1936. Mrs. Andrus was confirmed in the Catholic church.
Surviving are 12 children, Art, Ray and Fred, all of Roseburg, Lou of Albany, Roy of Oroville, Calif., Mrs. Nellie Howard of Oroville, Mrs. Oliver (Edna) Jones of Cathalamet, Wash., Mrs. LeRoy (Florence) Peth of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Mrs. William (Mildred) Bowers of Wichita, Kan., Joseph (Pat) of California, William of Salem and Mrs. Harold (Eva) Sprague of Ocean Park, Wash. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled in the chapel of Long & Orr Mortuary May 20 at 2 p.m. The Rev. W. Henry Peck will officiate. Concluding services and interment will follow in the Roseburg Memorial Gardens.
