Vonnie "Fred" Cogar, 69, of Webster Springs, passed away May 26, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston.
He was born Aug. 23, 1938, in Webster Springs, a son of the late Elza Cogar and Sylvia Cadle Cogar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
He was a lifelong resident of Webster County. He was a member of UMWA and Masonic Lodge 116 AF & AM. He loved to hunt, fish and play music.
He is survived by special friend, Jessie Cogar of Webster Springs; son, David (Caroll) Cogar of Akron, Ohio; daughters, Sandy (Larry) Palmer of Summersville, Karen (Paul) Armentrout of Montgomery, Beth (Bub) Hayhurst of Camden on Gauley, Polly (Devon) Cogar of Harrisburg, Va., and Gladys Christine Cogar of Webster Springs; brother, Gale (Lou) Cogar of Webster Springs; sisters, Millie (Bill) Morris and Doris (Dick) Jarvis, all of Webster Springs; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Dodd and Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with the Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Run Cemetery, Bolair.
