Eric B. Magnuson, a lifelong resident of Austin, died Friday morning.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth G. Magnuson; his daughter and son-in-law Janet and James Wallace; three granddaughters Nancy, Sheri and Wendy Wallace of Duncanville, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Bert and Earley Magnuson, Rudolph and Margaret Magnuson, Vernor and Doris Magnuson, Edwin and Anna Magnuson, Hartwin and Irene Magnuson, Mildred Magnuson and Viva Lee Magnuson; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, George, Nils and Howard Magnuson.
He was born in Forserum, Sweden, on July 4, 1906 and joined the First United Methodist Church, Austin, Texas in 1936 where he served on the executive board for over 32 years. He was a graduate of Trinity College and The American Savings and Loan Institute School of Accounting. He retired from First Federal Savings and Loan Assoiation on Jan. 1, 1974 as Vice President and General Manager of Capital Plaza Branch. He was a charter member and past president of West Austin Lion's Club with over 25 years of active service.
Private graveside services will be held at Austin Memorial Park, Monday, March 26, 1990 followed by a Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church, 12th and Lavaca at 2:30 p.m.
Memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 1866, Austin, Texas 78767, or to a favorite charity.
