Melba D. Akers, 86, of Raytown, MO passed away August 5, 2013. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, from 6:30-8PM at Blue Ridge Blvd United Methodist Church, Raytown, MO. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 8, at 11AM at the church. Burial to be held privately at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Melba was a member of Blue Ridge Blvd United Methodist Church. She was the wife of Rev. Ted E. Akers, deceased, a minister in the United Methodist Church. She worked in the insurance business in Kansas City & St. Joseph, MO and was involved in many organizations: Shepherd Center of KC, Della C. Lamb, & P.E.O. Melba was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Ted E. Akers, 2 sisters, and a brother. Melba is survived by 2 daughters, Peggy Hopkins & husband Dane and Virginia Nunamaker & husband John, 4 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
