William Morris McCawley, of 'Weldon', Haverford, socially prominent and associated with John C. Groome & Co., died late Friday night in the Bryn Mawr Hospital of septic pneumonia which set in following what was, until Thursday, an apparently successful operation. Mr. McCawley, who was 48 years old, is survived by his wife, who was Miss Mary B. Smith, a daughter of the late Edmund Smith, first vice-president of the Pennsylvania Railroad; by his son, Ensign Edmund Smith McCawley, U.S.N., and two daughters, Miss Elizabeth C. McCawley and Miss Eleanor L. McCawley. He was a member of the Radnor Hunt, Racquet, the Merion Cricket and other clubs, and was a son of the late Colonel McCawley, U.S.M.C., and a brother, Colonel Charles McCawley, in the Marine Corps.
