Sarah Jory arrived in America from Camborne, Cornwall, England on May 13, 1858 with just one trunk. The ship she traveled on was S.S.Baltimore
Sarah's father is James Jory of Copperhill. James Jory Sr. was christened 10 June 1818 in Crowan Parish, Cornwall County, England, the son of Nicholas and Ann (Jenkins or Richards) Jory. He married Ann Hoskin christened 8 aug 1818 in Camborne, Cornwall Co., England on 25 November 1838 by Hugh Rogers, Rector of Camborne, Church of England. The family was living in Carwynnen, Camborne Parish, at the time of the marriage. James Jory Sr. family and the Jonathan and Ann (Jory) Roberts family were living only a couple of houses from each other in Ducktown, Polk Co., TN in 1860. The Roberts family immigrated ca 1855 (according to the 1880 census). It is known that James Jory came to the USA in 1854 after being recruited by the London Mining company.
