Emily Kapunohuulaokala Kaohi Iwata of Hanapepe, died Sept. 29, 2005, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 90.

Born Dec. 21, 1914, in Honolulu, she retired from Hawaiian Telephone Company where she worked for 37-1/2 years.

Preceded in death by her husband, Paul S. Iwata and her daughter Lorna Naomi Iwata, she is survived by son: Paul S. Iwata, Jr.; daughter: Alma Mae (David) Silver; six brothers: Dudie, Enoka, William and Clarence of Kaua'i, Ellsworth of Kona and Ronald of Honolulu; three sisters: Betty Kaleohano of Kaua'i, Mercy Ching of Kaua'i, and Arlene Naholoholo of California; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church where services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Hawaiian Cemetery.

Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
