Hubert Winfred Baser, 91, of Benton; died at 8:25 a.m., Sunday, August 4, 2013 in the Franklin Hospital of Benton.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home.

BENTON - Hubert Winfred Baser, 91, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, in Franklin Hospital in Benton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, in Leffler-Poulson Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Tony Auxier officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Baser was born Nov. 23, 1921, the son of Adam and Hester (Steele) Baser. He married the former Helen Marie (Gould) Eaton on Nov. 24, 1980, and she survives.

Hubert worked in Army Material Command, where he helped supply third world countries with equipment. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corps from Nov. 10, 1942, until Jan. 25, 1946.

While serving his country, he spent time in the Southern Philippines, where he received an AP Theater ribbon and three bronze service stars, Philippine liberation ribbon and two bronze stars. He later reenlisted and served in the Air Force from March 1, 1951, until April 18, 1962, and obtained the rank of staff sergeant.

He was a life member of Benton American Legion Post 280. And, along with his wife, he attended North Benton Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Helen Marie Baser of Benton; her two sons, John Delmar Eaton and wife, Sue, of Galatia and Robert Steven Eaton of Foley, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Herbert and Bryan Eaton, both of Muskegon, Mich., Sarah Marie Eaton of Warrenton, Mo., Steven Michael Eaton of Jonesburg, Mo., and Dakota Matthew Eaton of O'Fallon, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren, Steven Michael Eaton Jr., Cheyenne Marie Eaton, Melanni Rose Eaton, Sophia Lynn Eaton, Brandon Clark, Lelea Herbert and Monty Herbert; special nephews and nieces, Gene Pace and wife, Norma, of Odessa, Texas, Joe Baser of Minnesota, Lavern and Neal DePries of Michigan, Joyce Cox of Arkansas, Dr. Susan Bass of Pennsylvania, Patty Economides of Georgia, Barb Baser of Pennsylvania and Cathy Weiss of South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milton, Rubel and Ralph Baser; and sisters, Lola Weeks and Mamie Pace.
