Obituary - Doyle Dean Baughman
Doyle Dean Baughman, age 91, of Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Leo William and Wilma Muriel (Gatton) Baughman, was born on November 20, 1931, in Decatur County, Iowa. He died on August 2, 2023, at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa after a short illness.

Doyle graduated from Leon High School in 1950. He then served two years in the United States Marine Corp. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Leon and met his future wife, Madolyn Rae Noftsger, at Hanaco Skating Rink. They were married in 1954, in Leon and made their home in Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado until Doyle changed jobs to work at Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline. The family moved to Illinois and Michigan before his retirement. Doyle and Madolyn wintered in Arizona for 20 years after they retired. They were blessed with three sons, James, Edward, and Terry.

Doyle loved watching all sports on television. He enjoyed playing golf. He was very proud of his involvement in completing the Lamoni Bike Trail. He and Madolyn were generous supporters of Graceland University in Lamoni, especially the wrestling program. Doyle had a knack to be able to fix anything. He enjoyed working with his hands and wood to make birdhouses. He and Madolyn were members and supporters of the Lamoni Community of Christ Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Jim Baughman; and his brothers, Clarence, Bill, Jim, and Paul. Survivors include his wife, Madolyn Baughman of Lamoni, Iowa; sons, Ed Baughman and wife, Tami of The Woodlands, Texas and Terry Baughman and fiancé, Silvia Farelas, of San Jose, California; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister, Jean Toney of Osceola, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services [were] held at the Lamoni Community of Christ Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Visitation from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial [was] in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa. Slade - O'Donnell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
