Stephen W. Congdon, 84, of Ulster, died this morning, November 12, 1971 at the Bradford County Manor following a lengthy illness. Born in Warren Center, March 7, 1887, the son of the late Stephen and Linda Duel Congdon, he had resided in Ulster since 1938 and at one time operated a garage there. He was a member of the Ulster United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife, Addie; a son, Roger of Ulster; three grandchildren, Stephen James Congdon of Cleveland, Ohio, E4 Suzanne L. Congdon of Fort Myers, Virginia and Roger A. Congdon, Jr. at home; two great-grandchildren, Kimberly Ann and Elizabeth Rae, both of Cleveland; a foster daughter, Mrs. Susie Van Ness of Athens; a sister, Mrs. Jessie O’Connor of Binghamton; a cousin, Dr. Wiley Congdon of Athens and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Gordon E. Farr Funeral Home in Ulster, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Sunday at 2 pm. Rev. Oren Williams of Montrose, former pastor of the Ulster-Milan United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Ulster Cemetery.
