June E. Acworth, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Manor Care Health Services North after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Rodger M. Acworth. The couple had been married for over 62 years. Born in York, on November 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Grace (Sipe) Peddicord. June was a charter member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. She worked as a bookkeeper with L.M. Klunk & Sons and retired from the home office of McCrory Stores in York. In 1975 she and Rodger opened Acworth Seafood in York which they owned and operated until 1985. She is survived by a son, Scott R. Acworth and wife, Cindy of East Berlin; and a granddaughter, Kelly B. Acworth of Carlisle. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Edna Small, Beatrice Angel, Mildred McCubbin, and Ruth Dellinger, all of York. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York, PA 17402 with Pastor Greg Seckman officiating. Interment will be at Mount Rose Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church at the above address.
