d/o Abraham Lyons and Luella Lauermann Lyons.

Anna had rheumatic fever as a child, which is said to have affected her heart and her nerves. She was frequently ill throughout her life.

As a child, Anna lived a somewhat privileged life. Her father's business afforded them home ownership in a nice section of the city of Newark, New Jersey. Professional photographs of Anna and her parents were frequently taken during those years. Anna had music lessons in addition to her schooling, and she performed in local theater and choral groups in Newark. In one of these groups, she met Norman Leeming, whom she married in 1918.

Anna's parents had purchased the house at 81 Stuyvesant Ave. in the Vailsburg section of Newark in 1902. That home was to remain Anna's for the rest of her life, passing from her parents to her. She and Norman moved in with her parents as soon as they married, and it was there they raised their children.

81 Stuyvesant Ave was a two-family home, with a two-bedroom flat on the first floor and an identical flat on the second floor. The Lyons/Leeming family lived in the second floor flat, with their four children sleeping in the attic bedroom. The first floor flat was always rented out, sometimes to other family members.

In 1927 Anna and Norman suffered the loss of their son, John, to a diphtheria epidemic.

After her mother died in 1948, the home passed to Anna, and after Anna's death, to her husband, Norman. With the deterioration of the neighborhood, Norman eventually sold the home in the late 1970s and moved to the suburb of Verona.

Anna passed away at home from a massive heart attack just 12 days before the wedding of her youngest daughter, Luella. (The wedding proceeded on the date, but the venue was moved from the church to the home of the groom's parents in deference to the situation.)
