Alney B. Elliott, age 34, enlisted as a Private in Company F, North Carolina 58th Infantry Regiment, Confederate States Army, on July 14, 1862. Company F was comprised of men from McDowell County who were known as the "McDowell Rangers." Alney was mustered out on August 6, 1863.

A.B. Elliott, age 52, of McDowell County, NC, married Cecil Walker, age 43, of McDowell County, NC on May 10, 1881 in McDowell County, NC. Rev. John R. Denton performed the marriage ceremony.


Obituary

Alney Elliott died at his home near Dysartsville on the first day of February and was buried in Dysartsville Cemetery on the second, J. R. Denton holding the services. Mr. Elliott was a soldier in the confederate war. He lived to a good, ripe, old age being 86 years old at the time of his death. He leaves a wife and three sisters, Mrs. Matilda Allen, Mrs. Mirah Morris and Mrs. William England. He claimed to be a saved man.
