Vivian Dodson
Vivian Mountcastle Dodson, 81, of 2398 Oak Level Road, Bassett, died Thursday, May 11, 2000 in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born Aug. 11, 1918, in Roanoke, she was the daughter of the late Willie H. Mountcastle and Avie Glispie Mountcastle.
A longtime resident of Henry County, she retired as a beautician. Shewas a member of the First Baptist Church of Bassett, where she worked in the Sunday School Department for a number of years and was active in the church's J.O.Y. group.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Elton Mountcastle.
Surviving are her husband, John Ezra Dodson of the home; one daughter, Cheryl D. Meadors of Bassett; one sister, Elsie M. Sloan of Ferrum; one brother, Deliston Mountcastle of Roanoke; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Collins Funeral Services chapel from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Bassett. The Rev. Lew Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
Collins Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
