James Frederick was the son of Joseph and Ida Lee (Cox) Schawo. His parents relocated from Boone County, Missouri abt 1910. He married Grace Mable Dixon on Oct 16, 1910 in Ashland, Clark County, Kansas. They had six children: Ida Laura Lee, James Harold, Freda Mabel, Karleen Marguerite, Elmer Francis Schawo and Leland William Schawo. Fred was a farmer and raised cattle for most of his life. For a short time he moved his family to the farm of his father-in-law south of Weableau, Hickory County, Missouri. Upon his father-in-law's return from Texas Fred moved his family to Kansas City, Kansas where he was motor-man for the city transit company. He was a devoted father and loved by all who knew him.
