Ruth worked for the Freeman Shoe Company in Emmitsburg for thirty years and at Frederick Trading in Frederick for several years after the Freeman Company closed. She was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Emmitsburg. She enjoyed dancing, playing Bingo and cards, watching beauty pageants, the Lawrence Welk Show, and programs featuring Shirley Temple and Minnie Pearl. She loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Carole Lee Yingling of Waynesboro, PA, and Tina Marie Brame of Littlestown, PA; sister, Georgette Reifsnyder of Keymar; 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Charles "Bill" Weidner, Jr., brothers, Harry and George "Tick" Ashbaugh, and sons-in-law, Jerry Yingling and Gary Brame.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 5 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tiffany Kromer officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg.
