Warren Lewis Ball - Warren Lewis Ball, 83, died Aug. 1. Ball was born in Atascadero, Calif., spent his teen years in Shandon, Calif., and attended San José State University. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1941 and was aboard the battleship U.S.S. Tennessee at Pearl Harbor the day the United States was attacked. He also performed in the elite Silent Drill team. Ball was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.
When he returned to the States, he and Doris were married, in 1945. They ran their own appliance-service business for 33 years from their home in Saratoga.
Hobbies and pastimes included teaching a Bible study from his home, coaching and managing his son's Little League baseball team, playing horseshoes, bridge and pinochle, and tending his vegetable garden. He and Doris designed their backyard with a waterfall, footbridge and path with foliage.
Ball is survived by his wife, Doris, and their children, Sharon Dehle, Ginger Calabro, Janette Anderson, Steven Ball and Kathy Vierra; grandchildren Carolyn, Debbie, Danene, Tim, Kelly and Haley; and great-grandchildren Samantha and Zachary.
Services were held on Aug. 7 at Hillside Evangelical Church in San Jose. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saratoga Adult Care Center at 19655 Allendale Ave., Saratoga, CA 95070. Source: Saratoga News - Saratoga, California
