Cecil Gilbert To Be Buried In Blair

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Campbell Funeral Home for Cecil Howard Gilbert, 78 of Blair, who died June 17, 1983, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

The Rev. Gordon Patterson is officiating. Burial is in Blair Cemetery.

Cecil Howard Gilbert was born December 8, 1904, in Harrison County, Iowa, to Ira and Mary Leona Wilson Gilbert. He attended elementary school in rural Woodbine, Iowa.

He married Mabel Davis on February 24, 1924, in Pisgah, Iowa, and they moved to Blair where he was employed with Denver Chicago. He later had his own trucking business, until he retired in 1970.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel, Blair; four daughters, and seven sons (including Howard, Blair and Leland, Claremont, California). Twenty-nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother (Oscar, Hiatville, Kansas), and three sisters (including Mrs. Irene McCune, Topeka, Kansas) also survive him.
