JOHN VANDELAAN, 89, Morrison died April 25, 2002 at Mercy Med. Ctr in Clinton Iowa. He was a lifetime farmer in the Morrison area retiring in 1979.

Mr. Vandelaan was born March 22, 1913 in Morrison the son of Sam and Ella (Voss) Vanderlaan. He attended schools in rural Whiteside County. He married Irene Wagenecht on Dec 30, 1937 in Morrison. She died Aug. 13, 1947. He then married Jeanette Dykstra-Bielema on Jan. 12, 1962 in Fulton. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church Morrison, where he served as an elder, deacon and Catechism teacher. He was lay minister of visitation at Resthave Nusing Home, Morrison and was involved with the jail ministry of Whiteside County Jail. He was a member of Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He was a Cubs fan and enjoyed the company of family and grandchildren.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter Patricia (LaVerne) Pessman of Fulton, a son David (Linda) Vanderlaan of Morrison, two stepdaughters, Carol (Wayne) Meurs of Fulton and Donna (Irv) Schaver of Jacksonville TX, three stepsons Delbert Bielema of Morrison, Willard (Nancy) Bielema of Rockton and Donald (Andra) Bielema of Sterling; a sister, Johanna (Ed) Medema of Morrison, 6 grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren, 8 Great Granchildren and 12 Step Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Janet; a sister Stella Brackemeyer, two brothers, Richard and Bert and 3 stepgrandchildren.
