Son of August Heinrich Kubach (ca 1816 - ca 1863), and Elizabeth Helgenstein.

According to the book Heinrich Zimmerman and His Descendants, 1536-2001, Volume 1, by Martha Sue Zimmerman Schrier, August "left by way of the Panama Canal to go to California during the Gold Rush and was killed en route".
