He was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Mason and a member of Mason Lodge #70 F.&A.M. Mr. Harkness was preceeded in death by his son Roger; and brother, Richard. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Doris; 1 daughter, Mary Skuse, and 1 daughter-in-law, Judith Harkness, both of Mason; 3 grandchildren, Jay and Karla Harkness and Ann Skuse,; 1 great-granddaughter, Rhiannon Skuse; 5 brothers, Robert of East Tawas, Fred of Lakeland, FL., John of Eaton Rapids, William of State College, PA., and Rex of Ashford, CT; 2 sisters, Hildred Whittum of Eaton Rapids and Patricia Rogers of Salt Lake City, UT; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co., Ball-Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, with the Reverend Dr. David L. Beck officiating and with Masonic Services being provided by the Mason Lodge #70 F. & A.M.
Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
