Jack Ariola, 90, of Corning passed away July 30, 2013 at home.

Born July 8, 1923 in Corning, Mr. Ariola was a retired oil field operator, author, locksmith, and construction worker. He served in the US Army during WWII as an airborne glider-trooper and earned three Bronze Stars. He was a member of Veterans of Battle of the Bulge, Silent Wings Museum, Military Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion, VFW, and 17th Airborne Association. He enjoyed woodworking.

On Dec. 7, 1999 in Lake Havasu City, AZ he married Helen June (Hooper) Ariola. She survives.

Other survivors are two children Gail Hodges of New York and Jimmy Ariola of Santa Ana, CA; one sister Juanita Madrid of CO; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents Monte Zuma and Georgia Raye (Vines) Ariola; three children Kathy Halez, Jackie and Jimmy Ariola; four brothers Monte Zuma, Monte Raye, Joseph Elmer, and Charles Grey Ariola.

Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home with Pastor Herbert Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Richwoods Cemetery.
