TWO RICHFIELD LADIES LOSE MOTHER

Mrs. Flora L. Maiben, 87 years of age, died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. V.E. Candland, 618 Milton Avenue, Salt Lake City. Death was due to the infirmities of old age.

Mrs. Maiben was born at Ghent, Belgium. She joined the LDS church in England and came to Utah in 1851, spending most of her time in Salt Lake. She was on of the first school teachers in Salt Lake.

She was married to Henry Maiben, pioneer painter and actor, July 20, 1856. He died thirty-nine years ago. Twelve children were born to them, six sons and six daughters, of whom the following survive: Mrs. Selby Jones, Mrs. John Y. Robbins, Mrs. V.E. Candland, Alfred H. Maiben of Salt Lake, Mrs. Harry D. Candland of Chester, Mrs. N.J. Bates and Mrs. Parley Magleby of Richfield. Fifty grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Joseph Thorn and William S. Thorn, are also living.

Mrs. Maiben, as noted above, is the mother of two Richfield Ladies, Mrs. N. J. Bates and Mrs. Parley Magleby. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Waterloo Ward chapel.
