August T. Hillmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hillmer, was born at Woodbine, Illinois on July 7, 1869. In early manhood he came to Sioux county and except for a 10 year period spent at Bridgewater, South Dakota resided in the county all his life. In 1901 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Van Steenbergen. To this union were born three children; Nina, Edith and Ethel. He was the youngest of eight children.
His parents, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his widow and three children: Nina (Mrs. Dick Holmes) of Marcus, Iowa; Edith (Mrs. Charles Gayer, Jr.) and Ethel (Mrs. Leo Grossenburg) of Rock Valley. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Betty, Ann and Richard Lee Holmes, Delores and Leland Gayer and Rodney, Sydney and David Grossenburg.
