Mrs. Nancy Smith who lives near Jasper was born December 7, 1857 in Tennessee coming to Arkansas when a girl of 13 years with her father Bill Baucam and family. M. Baucam and his father homesteaded land in Newton County and the family has lived here ever since.
Mrs. Smith has six children living, three sons, W.A. Smith of Harrison, Thomas Calvin Smith of Jasper and George Smith of Pindall; three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Ann Rowland of Jasper and Mrs. Rachel Reddell and Mrs. Tillie Cunningham of Smith Mountain.
Mrs. Smith has been confined to her bed the past three years, but has a good appetite. Her one tooth does not deter her from eating and digesting any food.
