Interment in the Hope Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sisseton with military rites by the Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post No 50 and Fort Sisseton V.F.W. Post No 3342.
There will also be a memorial service on Mar 15, 2001 at 6 p.m. at the Morningstar Baptist Church in Alpine. Please bring pictures and stories to share with Jay's family.
Jack Arne Almos was born on Dec 8, 1961 in Britton, SD to Charles and Mabel (Anderson) Almos. Jack graduated from Sisseton High School in 1980. After his education Jack joined the Army National Guard of South Dakota on Feb 13, 1986 in Battery A II Battalion 147 Field Artillery of Sisseton.
Jack worked for Anderson Bait Company in Eden, SD before moving to Jackson Hole in September of 1988. He worked for various local businesses in the Jackson Hole and Star Valley areas including construction jobs, snowmobile tour guide and snowmobile mechanic. He was currently employed at Action Sports in Jackson Hole as a Snowmobile Mechanic.
Jack enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. He died on Mar 2, 2001 east of Etna, in Lee Canyon in the Bridger National Forest due to an avalanche while snowmobiling.
Jack is survived by his mother Mabel Amos of Eden SD; one brother Krag Almos of Eden SD; two sisters, Mrs Richard (Sheila) Oreskovich of Grover, WY; and Mrs Greg (Eileen) Meyer of Watertown SD; his maternal grandmother Mrs Marie Anderson of Eden SD.
He is preceded in death by his father, paternal grandmother and grandfather, maternal grandfather.
