PAULINE BURLINGAME
Pauline L. Burlingame, 92, of Grinnell died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Mayflower Homes Health Care Center in Grinnell.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Grinnell Christian Church with John Epperson, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.
The daughter of Allen and Ellen Hendrickson Lang, she was born March 15, 1915, in Brooklyn. She was raised on the family farm and educated in rural school near her home. She received the teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was united in marriage with Elwood F. Burlingame on June 5, 1939, in her parents' home near Brooklyn. The couple farmed north of Brooklyn, then east of Grinnell for 25 years prior to moving into Grinnell in 1972. She was a homemaker and also a secretary in the Grinnell-Newburg School system for 12 years.
She was a woman of strong faith as was reflected through her involvement for many years in Grinnell Christian Church. She was active in the Farm Bureau and a member of Grinnell Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed crocheting and needlework.
She is survived by one son Roger Burlingame of Orton, Utah, three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one brother Wallace Lang of West Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elwood on Feb. 16, 1988; her daughter Marilyn Burlingame on May 27, 1949; and her son Raymond Burlingame on Feb. 17, 2007.
