She was born April 1, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo. As a young girl, she lived with her family on a ranch near Mitchell, S.D. She was educated at Davison Elementary School and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1939. Her first year of college was at Dakota Wesleyan College. She transferred to Dillon Normal School, graduating with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Her first teaching position was in Moiese, in a two-room schoolhouse, then taught in Charlo, where she met her future husband Wayne. She and Wayne were married May 27, 1944, in St. Ignatius. Her teaching career included positions in Missoula, Bridger, Hamilton and Roundup, where she retired in 1981. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Missoula, the Good Sam's Club and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for several years. She enjoyed camping, gardening and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Agnes; her twin brother, Robert; and her husband, Wayne.
Survivors include her daughters, grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
