Arthur Columbus Bridges

Funeral services for Arthur Columbus Bridges, 86, of Drew, Miss. were at 9:30am today in the chapel of Thweatt-King Funeral Home in Cleveland, Miss. The Rev. Royce Christmas officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Greenville.

A retired farmer, Mr. Bridges was a native of Maben, Miss. He married Anna Myrtle McDade in Webster County on 26 December 1915. The couple lived in Benoit, Miss. and Doddsville, Miss. prior to moving to Drew in 1937. He was a member of the West Drew Baptist Church.

Survivors are four sons, John M. Bridges, James P. Bridges and Ewell Bridges all of Greenville, Miss, and Arthur C. Bridges, Jr. of Tupelo, Miss, and six daughters Sarah Elizabeth Bridges Boyles of Drew, Jean Bridges Thomas of Tutwiler, Miss, Frances Bridges Glass and Anna Ruth Bridges Parks both of Memphis, Tenn.; Carolyn Bridges Catledge of Tupelo, Miss, and Myra Sue Bridges Weathersby of Tuscumbia, Ala.; a sister Mrs. Ruby Bridges Vaughn of Tomnolen, Miss.; 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
