Funeral services for Stanley Ackerman,59, were held May 4, at the
American Lutheran Church, Melvin.
Rev Ken Suetterlin and Rev. Johnston officiating,
Interment was at Union Cemetery. Harris. Walton,
Roste & Vogel Funeral Home of Sibley was in charge of arrangements.
Stanley Dean Ackerman was born near Little Rock to Harvey and Fannie (Becker) Ackerman on Dec.
30, 1941 Stan was raised and educated near various Minnesota communities where his family farmed. As a young man Stan started working in Harris where he met Karen Jurgensen. He and Karen were marred in Harris on Sept. 26.1959.
Throughout his life Stan had various jobs. While living In Harris he supervised a feed lot for Spencer Packing Co. At one time he drove truck and farmed for a short time near Bigelow, MN. In 1982 he and
Karen moved to Bakersfield, CA, where Stan was employed by A&B Oil Field Maintenance Inc., as a foreman. In 1992 he and Karen settled in Melvin and shortly there after Stan began working as the city's maintenance person. Stan was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Stan had recently been diagnosed with cancer and died May 1, at the Osceola Community Hospital.
Surviving is his wife; two daughters, Becky (David) Hertritter of Melvin and Brenda (Barry) Cammann of Melvin; three sons, Todd (Sue) Ackerman of Ashton; Troy (Jackie) Ackerman of Sheldon; and Stan (Aggie) Ackerman of Sanborn; along with eleven grandchildren and a great-grandson. Stan was also survived by his two sisters, Roslie (Everett Morrow) Holst of Okoboji and Janet (Marvin) Timmons of Kerkhoven. MN; four brothers, Gary Ackerman of Bakersfield, CA; Paul Ackerman of Bakersfield. CA; Dennis (Kay) Ackerman of Sioux Falls, SO; and Gaylen (Linda) Ackerman of Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stan was preceded In death by his parents; a grandson, Travis Baker; two sisters, Delores Ackerman and
Judy Spillman; a brother-in-law, Jim Holst; and sister-in-law, Carol Ackerman
