Steve C. Savor, 91, of Harmar Township, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at his home. He was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Verona, to the late John and Dorothy Opalka Savor, and had resided in this area the past 70 years. Steve was a well-known businessman in the area, formerly operating Savors Bar-B-Que in the 1950s through the early-1970s, and was also a well-known golfer. He was a member of the Alcoma Country Club since 1946, where he won many club championships and eight district invitational tournaments and was co-holder of the amateur course record 64 along with his son, Steve Savor Jr. In 1995, Mr. Savor was inducted into the Allegheny-Kiski Valley Sports Hall of Fame. Besides golf, he was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. During World War II, he served in the Maritime services from 1943 to 1946, and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in Harwick. He is survived by two sons, Steve Savor Jr. and James (Linda) Savor; and a sister, Ann Malec, of Springdale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah "Sally" (Hetrick) Savor; and four brothers, Louis, John, Joe and Pete Savor. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in SPRINGDALE at the CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh St. Services and burial will be private.
