Harrison E. Allen
Harrison E. Allen, 85, a former business man of Springwater, died unexpectedly at Springwater Monday. For many years he served as postmaster and was one of the firm of Allen & Whitbeck, who conducted a general store for fifty years.
Mr. Allen was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted in 1862 with the First New York Dragoons. He was promoted to sargeant and was captured by the enemy and exchanged. He was Commander of the W. B. Hazen Post, G. A. R., of Springwater.
He leaves one son, Dr. Harrison Allen, of Endicott, N. Y.; one daughter in law, Mrs. Rita H. Allen and two grandchildren, Harrison Allen of Utica and Catherine Allen of Springwater.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 o'clock at the Methodist Episcopal church Rev. Howard Tubbs officiating.

Harrison E. Allen
COHOCTON, Nov. 5. The death of Harrison E. Allen, a Civil War veteran, occurred unexpectedly in Springwater, where he had spent most of his life. Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Episcopal church with which he had been officially connected for many years, the Rev. Howard D. Tubbs officiating. Mr. Allen had been a leading merchant for about 50 years and also postmaster for several terms.
He is survived by one son, Dr. Harrison Allen, of Endicott; two grandchildren, Harrison Allen, of Utica and Catherine Allen, of Spingwater.
