Served in Capt. Edmund Tipton's Regiment of the PA. Militia, War of 1812, from 20 April 1813 to 24 Jun 1813, afterward enlisted in the Regular Army and was wounded in the left arm in battle. Married Elizabeth Mathias 23 Nov 1809 at Tuckahoe (Bellwood), now Blair Co., Pa. According to widow's pension he died 20 Dec 1824, although date on cenotaph (placed in 1923, and copied from his tombstone, which was placed in 1872 at his widow's death) states 8 Nov 1825. Actual burial in Walters Graveyard, Blair Twp.
