Unable to to verify Mamie Reynolds' parents. I believe her husband was George W. Spees (1860-1934), also buried in this cemetery.
Mamie was one of seven students to graduate from the eighth grade of a school in the town of Pittsboro, Indiana, in the year of 1884. She attended Central Normal College to further her education, and graduated from there with honors. It is stated that she also taught there several terms. She consented to be the first principal of the new school in Pittsboro, located over the Brumfield Store. This was the first Pittsboro High School. The school was moved to the Sawyer Block Building, on the south east corner of the intersection. She was the teacher there for the first two terms.
